2026 KTM 890 Adventure R Rally
KTM are shifting the conversation back towards their latest and greatest new motorcycles rather than restructuring, and the latest model to roll out of that push is the 2026 KTM 890 Adventure R Rally. The announcement lands just after MCNews covered Bajaj Mobility’s 2025 financial report, which pointed to KTM moving beyond survival mode, and just as Rennie’s review of the flagship 1390 Super Adventure R underlined that the big-capacity Austrian adventure platform is still very much alive.

Now KTM has taken that momentum down a size with a limited-run version of the 890 Adventure platform aimed squarely at riders who want proper, hardcore, serious dirt intent straight out of the crate. The 2026 KTM 890 Adventure R Rally is rolling off the Austrian production line right now, ahead of a scheduled Australian release around mid-year.

At its core is KTM’s 889 cc parallel-twin, producing 77 kW at 8000 rpm and 100 Nm at 6500 rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox, cable-operated PASC slipper clutch and Bosch engine management with ride-by-wire.

The bigger story is the chassis package. Where the regular 890 Adventure R already sits toward the dirty end of the middleweight adventure class, the Rally version adds WP XPLOR PRO 7548 Closed Cartridge Cone Valve forks and a WP XPLOR PRO 6746 PDS shock, both delivering 270 mm of travel. Pukka!

KTM also fits heavy-duty 21/18-inch spoked wheels, carbon tank guards, a Rally seat, Factory Racing footpegs, a Supersprox-Stealth rear sprocket and an Akrapovic slip-on.

Seat height is 910 mm, ground clearance 303 mm, and KTM claims 196 kg dry, 200 kg ready to ride and 215 kg fully fuelled.

Electronics are comprehensive, with lean-angle-sensitive traction control, Bosch cornering ABS with off-road mode, a 5-inch TFT display with Turn-by-Turn+ navigation, and the Tech Pack adding Rally Mode, Quickshifter+, Cruise Control and Motor Slip Regulation.

That also gives the bike a useful point of connection with the recently reviewed 1390 Super Adventure R, which Rennie noted also leans on a strong electronics suite and KTM’s now-standard four-year warranty coverage.
Visually, KTM has gone with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing-inspired bodywork and a two-tone tank treatment that leaves no doubt where this model sits in the hierarchy.

This is not being pitched as a touring-focussed 890 with a few dress-up parts. It is a more hard-edged, showroom-built take on the 890 Adventure formula for riders who place suspension quality and off-road hardware above everything else.
Like the 1390 Super Adventure R, the new 890 Adventure R Rally also falls under KTM’s Premium Manufacturer’s Warranty, with four years of cover, subject to servicing being carried out to schedule through authorised KTM dealers.

KTM tell us that Australian and New Zealand deliveries are due from June, priced at $35,995 Ride Away.
