2026 Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup
Round Two – Sepang, Malaysia
Razin rules Sepang as Plaisted charges forward
Qayyim Razin delivered a perfect home performance when the Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup returned to action at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit, claiming both race victories after starting from sixth on the grid.

The Malaysian won Saturday’s opener by just one-thousandth of a second before prevailing by nine-thousandths on Sunday, collecting the maximum 50 points available across the weekend.
Australian Judd Plaisted also emerged as one of Round Two’s standout performers. After finishing ninth in Race One, Plaisted charged from 11th to sixth in Race Two and missed setting the fastest lap by only 0.032 seconds.
“We spent a couple of months in Spain this year, competing as a wildcard in two Moto4 European Cup rounds and completing a one-off test, with the aim of taking another step forward on these talent-pathway bikes ahead of the Asia Talent Cup.
“Obviously, the goal is to make enough of an impression in the ATC to earn an invitation back for 2027.
“To come out in FP1 and run inside the top five, then back that up with fourth in FP2, at a circuit that is effectively the home track for many of the ATC riders, showed that all the hard work in Spain had paid off.

“Qualifying didn’t really work out for me, but I now know what I need to improve when it comes to producing that one fast lap. More experience will help with that.
“Starting from 11th on the grid, I knew it would be difficult to bridge the gap to the leading group, but that was the goal.
“I didn’t get the best start in Race 1, but I still managed to finish inside the top 10 for the first time.
“In Race 2, I was able to get with the leading group and stay there for the entire race. Following those riders for 11 laps gives you a real insight into what they are doing and how they are doing it.
“Hopefully, I can do that again in Japan and begin battling with those guys for a place on the podium.”
-Judd Plaisted

Jake Paige was another Aussie in the field at Sepang, finishing 14th and 12th across the two races. His brother Bodie was absent from the Moto4 Asia Cup round while competing in the MotoAmerica Twins Cup event at Mid-Ohio, where he claimed victory in Race One and finished the weekend third in Race Two.
Teerin Fleming carded 13-10 finishes that left him disappointed but determined to bounce back next time out at Motegi.
Moto4 Race One
Decided by one-thousandth
Pole-sitter Qabil Irfan led the field away as Kotaro Togashi, Waku Kunitate, Bintang Pranata, Haruki Matsuyama and Qayyim Razin formed a tightly packed six-rider contest at the front.

Razin had launched strongly from sixth on the grid and remained firmly in the battle as the slipstream repeatedly reshuffled the running order along Sepang’s long straights.
Pranata set the fastest lap of the race with a 2:17.202 on Lap Seven, but outright pace was not enough to break clear of a leading group that remained covered by little more than half a second.

Togashi led onto the final lap before Irfan attacked, setting up a drag race to the chequered flag. Following a review of the finish, Razin was confirmed as the winner by just 0.001 seconds.
Togashi took second, while Irfan was only 0.003 seconds from victory in third. Pranata finished fourth, just 0.031 seconds behind Razin, with Kunitate and Matsuyama completing a lead group covered by 0.550 seconds.

Championship leader Hayato Chishiki finished seventh ahead of Pacharagorn Thonggerdloung, while Australian Judd Plaisted crossed the line ninth after starting 11th. Jake Paige finished 14th, with Muhammad Naqib the only rider not to complete the race.

Moto4 Race Two
Razin doubles up as Plaisted finds front-running pace
Kotaro Togashi led into Turn One at the start of Race Two, but Qabil Irfan, Bintang Pranata and Qayyim Razin were soon involved in another multi-rider battle at the front.

Haruki Matsuyama set the fastest lap of the weekend with a 2:17.006 on Lap Five, while Australian Judd Plaisted was making rapid progress after starting from 11th position.
The complexion of the race changed on Lap Nine when Pranata and Togashi collided at Turn One, eliminating both riders and reducing the number of contenders for victory.
Irfan led at the start of the final lap, but Razin attacked at Turn One before another slipstreaming contest developed on the run towards the chequered flag.

Razin completed his Sepang clean sweep by defeating Waku Kunitate by 0.009 seconds. Irfan finished third, only 0.106 seconds behind the winner, with Matsuyama fourth and Hayato Chishiki fifth.
Plaisted climbed five positions to finish sixth, just 2.854 seconds behind Razin. His 2:17.038 fastest lap was the second-quickest of the race and only 0.032 seconds slower than Matsuyama’s benchmark.

Resky Yusuf, Pacharagorn Thonggerdloung, Noprutpong Bunprawes and Teerin Fleming completed the top 10, while Jake Paige finished 12th. Togashi, Pranata and Muhammad Naqib were the three non-finishers.

Up next – Mobility Resort Motegi
Hayato Chishiki retains the Moto4 Asia Cup championship lead with 70 points, but only eight points cover the leading three riders after two rounds.
Waku Kunitate sits second on 64 points, with Qabil Irfan third on 62. Qayyim Razin’s perfect 50-point Sepang haul moved the Malaysian directly into fourth place despite failing to score at the opening round.
Judd Plaisted’s ninth and sixth-place finishes lifted the Australian to 12th in the championship on 20 points.
Bodie Paige remains 15th on 11 points after missing Sepang while contesting the MotoAmerica Twins Cup round at Mid-Ohio. Bodie made the most of that opportunity, winning Race One and finishing third in Race Two.
His brother Jake Paige remained on Moto4 Asia Cup duty at Sepang, finishing 14th in Race One and 12th in Race Two. Those results added six points to Jake’s tally and leave him 16th in the championship.
More from Bodie Paige’s successful weekend at Mid-Ohio can be found in our MotoAmerica and American road-racing coverage.
The Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup next rejoins the MotoGP paddock for Round Three at Mobility Resort Motegi in Japan from October 2-4.
