2027 KTM Australia Adventure Rallye heads to Victoria

Goldfields to Great Ocean Road for 2027 KTM Adventure Rallye

KTM Australia has revealed the route and dates for the landmark 10th edition of its Australia Adventure Rallye, with the 2027 event set to take riders from Victoria’s historic Goldfields through the Grampians and down to the Great Ocean Road.

Scheduled for 14–19 March 2027, the KTM Australia Adventure Rallye: VIC Ranges will comprise five days and approximately 1500 kilometres of riding, beginning and ending in Ballarat.

Places will be limited to 130 riders, with entry open exclusively to eligible road-registered KTM adventure models.

Five days of supported riding will take the KTM Rallye field through farmland, forests and mountain country.

Goldfields, Grampians and Great Ocean Road

The 2027 Rallye will begin with a loop around Ballarat before heading west to Halls Gap, at the foot of the Grampians and the western end of Victoria’s Great Dividing Range.

From Halls Gap, the route will turn south towards the Southern Ocean, with overnight stops scheduled for Port Campbell and Lorne before riders complete the journey with a final return to Ballarat.

The course is expected to incorporate the varied terrain of southwest Victoria, including Goldfields tracks, the rocky landscape of the Grampians, Otways forest trails and sections running close to the Great Ocean Road and Southern Ocean coastline.

Main and Breakout routes

As with previous KTM Australia Adventure Rallyes, the course is being developed to accommodate riders with differing levels of experience.

A Main Route will feature the more accessible gravel roads, flowing forest tracks and scenic bitumen transport sections, while optional Breakout Routes will add more technical terrain for riders seeking an additional challenge.

Those Breakout sections may include rocky climbs and descents, tighter trails and creek crossings, with KTM using its established chilli-rating system to indicate the relative difficulty of each option.

Navigation will be primarily by GPS, supported by course arrows, daily route sheets and rider briefings covering fuel locations, lunch stops and points of interest.

Accommodation packages added for 2027

A significant change for the 2027 event will be the introduction of accommodation packages that can be selected during registration.

The packages will cover six nights, with single and twin-share options available. KTM says all accommodation will be within walking distance of the nightly bivouac and dinner venue, reducing the amount of separate planning required before the event.

Riders travelling alone will also be able to select a twin-share package and be paired with another Rallye participant.

Accommodation packages start from $850 per rider and will be allocated on a first-registered basis. The accommodation charge is additional to the standard event entry fee.

Camaraderie and shared experiences remain central to the KTM Australia Adventure Rallye formula.

Five days and 1500 kilometres

The $2350 rider entry includes five days and approximately 1500 kilometres of organised adventure riding, along with the extensive logistical and technical support for which the KTM Rallye events have become known.

Event inclusions comprise:

  • Five days and approximately 1500 kilometres of adventure riding
  • Lead riders, course markers and GPS route files
  • Luggage transportation between overnight stops
  • Technical and tyre support
  • Medic support
  • Backup vehicle and sweep support
  • Dinner each night
  • KTM rider goody bag
  • Event photography and highlight video
  • Opportunities to ride with KTM special guests

The new accommodation packages are offered in addition to the $2350 entry fee, starting from $850 per rider.

Eligible motorcycles and rider requirements

The event is open to eligible road-registered KTM adventure motorcycles, covering current and previous-generation models ranging from the smaller-capacity 390 platform through to KTM’s 1390 Adventure range.

KTM recommends that participants have at least two years of off-road riding experience. Riders will also require an appropriate motorcycle licence, suitable motorcycle insurance, GPS navigation capability, a minimum fuel range of 250 kilometres and off-road-focussed tyres.
