— AMH QLD SX Round Two
— KTM Report

Three months after confirming its support for returning riders Daniel McCoy and Brenden Harrison for this year’s supercross season, KTM Australia is pleased to congratulate them on winning their respective classes at the AMH Queensland Supercross Championships, which concluded on the weekend at Leyburn on Queensland’s Southern Downs.

McCoy powered his Motorex KTM450SX-F to victory in the second and final round of the Pro Open championship, holding off Round One winner Jake Moss until the latter fell at the mid-point of the race, leaving the #65 KTM to cruise to championship victory.
McCoy won the title with 47 points, ahead of Jacob Wright (42) and Matt Haworth (36).

Choice Motorsports rider Brenden Harrison dominated the Lites category with a perfect score on his KTM250SX, winning the opener at Dundas a week ago and then dominating the final.

After Harrison’s nightmare couple of years which has included two broken femurs and a broken neck, his first title since 2009 was a euphoric and popular accomplishment which saw him gain with a perfect 50 points over Taylor Potter (42) and Wade Hunter (38)

Daniel McCoy: “What a well run series, the whole preparation was really all positive, the tracks were really decent with plenty of big berms so you could make good passes and there were good rhythm sections. Best of all the prize money was awesome!

At round one I finished second. Jake was riding really good and I didn’t have much for him but I knew what to expect at the next round. The second track suited more towards my style and my bike setup, and in this one I won the Dash for Cash early on. Jake and I were the last two and I got him. Then in the final I got into the lead out of Turn 2 across the whoops and Jake was behind me for half the race. I could hear him in every turn until about the sixth lap when he fell. Once I saw that I just cruised and got it done. Winning any race is good for the confidence and I got decent starts and felt good so I hope I can carry the feeling over to this weekend.”

Brenden Harrison – “The series was unreal all round, and the best fun I’ve had in a long time. The track was massively long with 12, one-minute laps which suited me well. In the final I got the holeshot and got a bit of a lead and probably made it boring to the spectators but I was glad to bring it home. It’s good to learn what it feels like to win again and I really want to win in Toowoomba this weekend. I’m look forward to see how the race ends up, I’ve heard it’s going to be a big track so I’m super excited and I just hope the rain stays away. I haven’t felt the confidence to go 15 laps full out in the Australian Supercross Championship so far, but I’ve just been racing everything I can and each time I’m getting better and better. It’s coming together perfectly and I feel 85-90% so by the MX Nats come around next year I should be good to go.”
