– Carlton Dry Honda Report
Faith breaks through for inaugural Super X podium
Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racings US import Gavin Faith broke through for his first ever Super-X podium at the third round of the series at Campbelltown Stadium last night
The Lites rider was second overall after finishing the three 6-lap finals first, eighth and second.
Faith was sitting second in Final 2 but went down jumping the triple section, and dropped to eighth.
“It is fantastic to finally get the monkey off my back and get on the podium,” Faith admitted.
“I had two really good races but I am little disappointed in myself for crashing in the second final.
“I am fifth in the championship and took home some good points tonight so the goal is to keep being consistent and hopefully move up the order next weekend,” Faith said.
For Todd Waters it was a night he would rather forget. The Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing rider ended the night 13th and acknowledged it was his worst ever Super X result.
After crashing in the first 7-lap final Waters took the chequered flag 10th.
The Open class rider was forced out of the second final after a collision with Lawson Bopping jammed his rear brake on. Waters made it back to the startline for the final race, which he finished sixth.
“That was definitely a night I would rather forget,” Water said. “It would have to be my worst ever result.
“All I can do is put it behind me and try to move forward. I am heading back to Cairns for the week to train and will try to turn it around for next weekend’s event.
“The first race really set the scene I got off to a bad start then crashed and it all seemed to spiral downhill from there,” Waters admitted.
The Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing team will now prepare for the penultimate round of the 2011 Super X Championship, which will be held at Maitland Oval on Saturday November 12.

Harrison gets first Lites win as Simmonds reclaims Super X Open lead in Campbelltown
JDR Motorex KTM’s Brenden Harrison landed his first ever Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, victory in the Pro Lites category at Campbelltown’s third round of season 2011 on Saturday night, 5 October.
The 22-year-old Queenslander broke through for a popular first career win in the professional ranks, boosting himself well into title contention with 4-1-3 results in the action-packed Triple Header main event.
“I’m ecstatic and the feeling is just unbelievable,” Harrison said. “It’s like all the hard work has finally paid off and came together tonight. I’ll just take it round by round from here and focus on my riding. For now, I’m lost for words. I really have to thank the whole JDR Motorex KTM team and everybody who has stuck behind me.”
After a pair of third places in the opening two rounds, Harrison now sits second in the series, just three points off JDR Motorex KTM teammate and fellow 250 SX-F rider Matt Moss.
Moss was fast in the Emu Plains-based team’s home round of the series, but just fell short of the podium in fourth overall after taking home 2-2-10 results on the night.
Queenslander Robbie Marshall scored his best result of the year in sixth after winning his heat race for Coastal KTM, now seventh in the series with two rounds remaining.
In the premier Pro Open ranks it was Tye Simmonds who continued to prove his potential for JDR Motorex KTM aboard the 450 SX-F, finishing third overall with a consistent run of 4-3-4 results in the Triple Header.
“Tonight was a battle, but it’s nice to have that red plate again in the lead of the series,” 19-year-old Simmonds commented. “I feel really good on the bike and I’m glad tonight was dry, so we’ll keep working and move onto the next two rounds – see what we can do!”
Bourke resident Simmonds reclaimed the championship lead in the Opens by a single point, returning to the podium for the first time since his triumphant opening round win.
Simmonds’ teammates endured a difficult night, with Ryan Marmont 10th aboard the 350 SX-F after a number of mishaps while battling for position, while the luckless Dan Reardon was credited 16th despite technical problems hindering his night.
The Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, will reach its penultimate round next weekend in Maitland, NSW, for round four in the 2011 series on Saturday, 12 November.

– CDR Rockstar Yamaha
CDR Rockstar Yamaha’s Jay Marmont raced back to top form taking an emphatic win at round three of the 2011 Monster Energy SuperX held at Campbelltown Stadium on Saturday Night.
Marmont, high on the emotion after the birth of son Jax during the week, all but dominated on the night by getting the fastest qualifying lap, a heat race win, the victory in the Man on Man and only dropping one race in the main event, triple challenge. His 2-1-1 result was a fine return and showed his dominance on the night.
Race one of the Triple Challenge saw Marmont claw his way through the field to take second place but it was leg two where the Wollongong local produced a typical Marmont performance that typified his place in Australian racing.
Starting just inside the top five, he methodically picked off riders in front of him until he reached the back tyre of race leader, Billy Mackenzie. Using a unique jump sequence in the combination section, Marmont leapt alongside the Kawasaki rider, slipped up the inside in the following turn and then rode off into the distance to take the win and set up his round victory.
Race three was wire to wire Marmont and the success of the night was capped off nicely as he has now closed to within two points of the championship leader with just two rounds remaining.
“It has been a pretty special week for me and the family. I felt pretty confident leading up to the event and I even tweeted how keen I was to race on Friday Night and that is something I never do, I just had that feeling.”
“It was nice to finally get some decent weather, a good crowd and a nice track to race on. The CDR Rockstar Team and I had worked hard in the lead up to this series and it was frustrating that the weather didn’t allow us to show our true potential, so It was good to have a round that offered proper racing and a good atmosphere,” Marmont states.
The night was only a lap or two away from being hugely successful for the CDR Rockstar Yamaha team with Jake Moss also running deep inside the top five in the opening two motos. He logged 3-3 finishes in the first two motos and was again in the top five in the final leg when he miscued a jump section and was sent flying into the dirt.
He hit the ground and lay motionless on the track as paramedics rushed to his aid. He was then transported to hospital where his injuries were listed as a broken ribs, a punctured lung and a mild concussion. It was devastating blow for Moss who was just getting back to full fitness after early season injuries.
It was a case of mixed emotions for team manager, Craig Dack. The taste of Marmont’s victory was bittersweet as Jake Moss was being rushed away to hospital.
“I knew once we had a dry track that provided good racing, we had the fastest riders and the bikes to win. And we were only two minutes away from proving that when Jake went down.”
“Jay again proved he is the best rider in Australia and out classed the opposition. He was the fastest qualifier, won the man on man, and then pulled off 2-1-1 to complete his night in a well deserved victory.”
“Jake was also showing his best form of the season but a small mistake late in the final race bought him undone. It was a nasty fall but thankfully his injuries don’t appear to be as bad as first expected.”
“So, now our sole focus is on Jay continuing his form from tonight for the final two rounds and trying to secure another championship. The points are close and as the first three rounds have shown, anything can happen,” Dack states.
