Jett grimaces through Pala return
Lawrence brothers leave Fox Raceway with very different storylines
The Lawrence brothers left the AMA Pro Motocross season opener at Fox Raceway with very different emotions, but the same clear message for the 450 field: both are going to be central to the outdoor title fight.
Hunter Lawrence was the headline act at Pala, topping 450 qualifying before converting that pace into a perfect 1-1 scorecard. The Australian controlled the opening moto and cleared out to win by almost nine-seconds, then backed it up in Moto Two after grabbing the holeshot on his CRF450RWE. That completed his first 450MX moto sweep and put the red plate on his bike heading into Hangtown.
It also kept the Lawrence family’s Pala record rolling. Jett had won every 450 moto he had contested at Fox Raceway across the previous three seasons, but this time it was Hunter who carried the family standard, while his younger brother was forced into damage-limitation mode.
Jett back on the podium, but clearly suffering
Jett’s 4-3 results for third overall were impressive on paper, but the ride told a much harder story. This was his first race appearance of the year after the serious right foot and ankle injury that ended his Supercross campaign before it started. He had fractured the talus and navicular in a December training crash, injuries that required surgery and a long layoff.
The issue now is not simply whether Jett can ride. Clearly, he can. The question is how much punishment that ankle can absorb week after week in the roughest championship on the calendar. A talus/navicular injury is not the sort of thing that magically improves between Saturdays, particularly when the job involves landing from jumps, catching square-edged bumps and absorbing heavy loads through the footpeg for two long motos.
Jett admitted afterwards that he was still compensating, landing with most of his weight on his left side and feeling the worst of it through the rougher, edgy bumps out of turns. His starts also left him in traffic, which meant he had to deal with Pala roost rather than ride the clean air he has so often enjoyed there.

That Jett still put the Honda on the overall podium says plenty about his baseline speed and racecraft. However, it also suggests the early rounds could be a balancing act. Jett may be fast enough to stay in the championship picture, but he is unlikely to be pain-free any time soon.
Hunter, meanwhile, has no such caveat. He looked sharp, settled and physically ready for the grind of the outdoors. After finishing second overall in the last two 450MX seasons, this was exactly the kind of opening statement he needed.
Honda leaves Pala with the red plate, a double 450 podium, and both Lawrence brothers in the frame. The difference is that Hunter looks ready to attack the championship from the front, while Jett’s defence may be as much about pain management as outright speed, at least for now.
Triumph makes MX2 history with French GP one-two
British brand breaks through against motocross establishment
Triumph’s still-young MX2 World Championship project took a major step forward at the French Grand Prix, where Guillem Farres and Camden McLellan delivered the British manufacturer’s first 1-2 finish in Grand Prix motocross.
For a brand still in the early stages of building its off-road racing credibility, it was a result of real substance. Triumph only entered the MX2 World Championship in 2024 with the TF 250-X, and it is doing so in a paddock where the Japanese manufacturers have decades of development, dealer depth, racing infrastructure and rider pathways behind them.
Farres goes 1-1 for first Grand Prix victory
Farres was the standout at La Capelle-Marival, recovering from a minor qualifying race crash to produce a perfect Sunday. He started third in the opening moto, moved forward quickly, then took control after the race leader crashed and went on to secure the win.
The second moto was harder fought. Farres again started strongly, then passed team-mate McLellan early before settling in behind the leader. With three laps remaining, he made the decisive move, then held off late pressure from McLellan to complete a 1-1 scorecard and claim the first Grand Prix overall victory of his career.
For Triumph, the result added another important marker to a rapid development curve. The TF 250-X has already won motos and Grands Prix, but a 1-2 overall finish carries extra weight for a manufacturer still establishing itself in top-flight motocross.

McLellan’s 3-2 results were every bit as important to the team outcome. After having to work forward in the opening moto, he put himself in a stronger position from the start of race two and remained in the fight to the flag.
He twice got close enough to challenge Farres in the final laps, but ultimately had to settle for second in the moto and second overall. Combined with Farres’ double win, that was enough to give Triumph Factory Racing its first Grand Prix one-two.
A new player now genuinely in the MX2 fight
The result follows McLellan’s earlier overall victory for Triumph in Andalusia and continues a strong start to the season for the British brand. After six rounds, Triumph had claimed seven podiums, two overall victories, and has missed the rostrum only once.
Six Aussies heading to Junior MX World Championship in July
A full complement of six riders will represent Motorcycling Australia at the 2026 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship (WJMX) in the Czech Republic from July 3-5.
The Team Australia line-up includes two riders with past WJMX experience: Seth Thomas and Blake Bohannon, alongside four newcomers to the pinnacle of junior world motocross competition: Ryder Madafiglio; Hudson Francis; Jayce Stocker and Cooper Ford.
The breakdown of class participation is as follows:
- 65 cc: Ryder Madafiglio (NSW, Husqvarna) and Hudson Francis (QLD, Yamaha)
- 85 cc: Blake Bohannon (NSW, Yamaha) and Jayce Stocker (WA, KTM)
- 125 cc: Seth Thomas (NSW, KTM) and Cooper Ford (TAS, KTM)

“I am excited about the opportunity to take the team to Jinin this year. The track is clay-based and undulating, so it should be a great race track and provide some great racing for the boys.”
The 22nd running of the WJMX will be held in Jinin, which previously hosted the event in 2005 and 2013. The natural terrain track is very technical, which will provide a solid challenge for riders in all three categories. The level of talent in the WJMX is extraordinary, with over 200 riders from 40 countries expected to line up on the starting gates in the Czech Republic.
KTM refute Enduro model compliance claims
In case you missed the furore last week, KTM have officially responded to enduro model compliance allegations, following European media reports around emissions compliance that to relate to post-sale competition conversions. The allegations and ensuing media investigation seem to originate from an unnamed ‘climate whistleblower’ in the industry, according to a French publication involved.

Motorcycling Australia clarify AUSX announcement
Motorcycling Australia has released a statement in response to a recent AUSX Supercross calendar announcement, adding a bit of confusion to the five-round calendar revealed last week.

On May 28, a media release was circulated by the promoter of the Australian Supercross Championship with a 2026 event schedule. The media release is misleading.
The Queensland round, scheduled for Saturday, October 3, will not form part of the 2026 AUSX Championship because of direct clashes with the 2026 Australian Junior Motocross Championship in Victoria and the Motocross of Nations in France.
The Queensland round has never been approved by Motorcycling Australia.
Finally, the New Zealand round of the 2026 Australian Supercross Championship remains tentative until a formal approval process has been completed by Motorcycling New Zealand alongside Motorcycling Australia and FIM Oceania. However, we are optimistic the event will go ahead.

AUSX Supercross Townsville – October 3
Further details have also been revealed about the Townsville event, being held on October 3, with Queensland Country Bank Stadium confirmed as the battleground.
The AUSX Townsville Season Opener will feature some of the world’s best Supercross racers and, for the first time ever, integrate a full-scale Freestyle Kings LIVE show — bringing elite FMX athletes, massive tricks, explosive production and thrilling entertainment into the already jam-packed AUSX Supercross event experience.
This marks the first time an AUSX Supercross event has been held in North Queensland.
Alexanderson replaces injured Ferris at Empire Kawasaki
Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki have announced that Ryan Alexanderson will join the team aboard the Kawasaki KX450, filling in for the injured Dean Ferris at the upcoming Appin round.
Alexanderson will line up alongside Brad West, who is expected to return to racing after missing the Toowoomba round while recovering from surgery.
Jeremy Seewer splits from Ducati
Late last week, Ducati confirmed that they and Jeremy Seewer had mutually agreed to end their collaboration, which took immediate effect.
Ducati’s factory team in the MXGP World Championship will continue its 2026 campaign with Andrea Bonacorsi and Calvin Vlaanderen, who competed in the German Grand Prix at Teutschenthal over the weekend.
Ducati thanked Seewer, whose notable achievements with the manufacturer were two podium finishes in 2025 – taking third place at Frauenfeld (Switzerland) and Ernée (France), wishing him all the best for the continuation of his career.
2026 Australian Senior Dirt Track Championship Wrap
New and former champions were crowned across two days of bar-banging action at the 2026 Allcot Hire Australian Senior Dirt Track Championship in Canberra last week.
The event, promoted by the ACT Motorcycle Club, saw Daniel Wicks (KTM), Matthew Griffiths (Honda) and Matthew Davies regain their No.1 status in the MX Open, ATV Open and 1100cc Sidecar classes respectively, while other championship winners included Cooper Archibald (Ducati, Pro 450), Thomas Gotts (KTM, Pro 250) and Ruby James (KTM, Pro Open Women).
The Pro 450 victory was particularly sweet for emerging star Archibald, who not only celebrated his 17th birthday on Sunday but also broke new ground as the first Ducati rider to win an Australian senior dirt track title riding the brand’s all-new Desmo 450MX.
In a stacked Pro 450 field, Archibald defeated 2023 champion Cody Lewis (Yamaha) and Lachlan Russell (KTM) in the Canberra final.
All the classes came down to fine margins and making the most of hard-earned opportunities, and in MX Open that playbook went the way of Wicks (KTM) ahead of local hotshots Lewis (Yamaha) and Brandon Burns (GASGAS).
However, the host club wouldn’t be denied in Pro 250 and Pro Open Women classes thanks to Gotts and James, with Gotts edging out Jett Carter and Brock Hutchins (KTM) while James claimed the spoils from Zoe Davies (Honda) and Romee-Flewell Smith (KTM).
In ATV Open, Honda-riding siblings Matthew and Joshua Griffiths resumed their habitual front-running deeds, with Matthew enjoying the family bragging rights on this occasion. Joel Robertson (Yamaha) was third.
Meanwhile, Matthew Davies is the 1100cc Sidecar champion for the second time in three years – but the first time with passenger Wayne O’Meley. They defeated Corey Forde / Lionel Cornwall and Chad Monaghan / Wade Robertson.
A huge brace of support classes kept the on-track action flowing in Canberra, with winners including Christopher Steep in Sliders and Joshua McCosker in Over 40s. The junior standouts were Kruze Anderson, Bentley Williams, Cohen McCosker, Maverick Flewell-Smith, Hallie Richards, Kade Wilesmith, Parker Richards and Harry Godfrey.
Next up on the national calendar is the 2026 Australian Senior Track Championship, which will be held on September 19-20 in Ayr.

Lambert and Huckenbeck top SGP Qualifiers
Robert Lambert and Kai Huckenbeck led home their rivals in the concluding two 2026 FIM Speedway Grand Prix Qualifying rounds – staged at Žarnovica in Slovakia, and Glasgow in Great Britain – to book their places in the FIM SGP World Championship Challenge.
With the top five from both Žarnovica and Glasgow joining the top five from the first round at Abensberg in Germany earlier in the week, the fifteen qualifiers – who will be fighting for four priceless places in the 2027 FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship (SGP) – have now been decided for the showdown at Terenzano in Italy on 25 July.
The action got underway in the afternoon at the Speedway Stadium Žarnovica, where Australia’s Jaimon Lidsey picked up the first win of the programme ahead of Oliver Berntzon from Sweden, before Latvian Andzejs Lebedevs – who was fourth in last season’s FIM SGP World Championship Challenge – won from Czech racer Adam Bubba Bednar.
British star Lambert then picked up an important early win ahead of the hotly-tipped pairing of Polish racer Kacper Woryna – who sits second in the SGP standings after two rounds – and Danish rival Michael Jepsen Jensen, who were second and fifth in the 2025 FIM SGP World Championship Challenge, with Italy’s Felipe Nicolas Covatti completing the opening block of racing with victory chased by home favourite Martin Vaculik.
Vaculik had the passionate fans on their feet with victory in his second Heat, and Jepsen Jensen and Woryna then both claimed their first wins of the afternoon before Lambert dropped a point against Lidsey.
Following further wins for Woryna, Lambert and Lebedevs, Bednar then forced Lidsey to drop a point, resulting in a three-way tie for the lead between Woryna, Lambert and Lidsey with two blocks remaining.
Lambert then made it three wins from four starts, followed by further victories for Lebedevs, Jepsen Jensen and Lidsey, leaving the British and Australian riders tied at the top on eleven points, one clear of Lebedevs and two ahead of Woryna, with Vaculik’s score of eight putting him in an all-important fifth place.
Victory in his fifth Heat ahead of Lebedevs pulled Jepsen Jensen back into contention as the Latvian confirmed his place at Terenzano, and Bednar, with his second win, also kept his hopes of progressing alive. Lambert then rubber-stamped his appearance in Italy with a fourth victory as a retirement ended Vaculik’s hopes, and the twenty-eight-year-old – SGP silver medallist in 2024 – was guaranteed the top step of the podium when Lidsey followed Woryna home in the final Heat, with both riders making the cut for the FIM SGP World Championship Challenge.
The final place in Terenzano went to Jepsen Jensen following a run-off with Bednar for fifth before Lebedevs defeated Woryna in a run-off for third.
With the five riders from Žarnovica decided, focus switched to Glasgow, where the final five places were on the line, and the home supporters were given good reason to cheer when, following early wins for Australian Jack Holder and Germany’s Huckenbeck, British favourites Adam Ellis and Chris Harris also claimed victories in their opening Heats.
Huckenbeck took his second win of the night ahead of Poland’s Piotr Pawlicki – who had followed Harris across the line first time out – and Frederik Jakobsen from Denmark won from 2022 SGP bronze medallist Maciej Janowski before Harris beat Holder, and twenty-four-year-old rising British star Anders Rowe led home Jonas Knudsen.
After starting with two third places, Victor Palovaara from Sweden claimed his first win of the night, chased by Ellis, who was slipping out of contention following a no-score in his second Heat, and Huckenbeck took a point from Harris before Holder, who is currently fifth in SGP, beat Rowe and Jakobsen defeated his compatriot Knudsen.
Pointless through the opening three Heats, Norway’s Lasse Fredriksen took a consolation victory before Poland’s Janowski won from Rowe, Huckenbeck maintained his one-hundred per cent record ahead of Holder, and Palovaara came out on top of a battle with Harris to set up a dramatic final block.
Rowe signed off with a win to ensure his progression to Terenzano, where he will be joined by Holder, who made the cut with a second behind Britain’s Tom Brennan, and Huckenbeck, who completed his maximum to sail through, and after Holder had won a run-off for second, Rowe, Jakobsen and Harris claimed the final two qualifying positions following a run-off with Janowski.
Boughen extends Flat Track World Championship lead in Italy
Ashton Boughen (VRX Dirt Store Ducati) made it back-to-back Grand Final victories and underlined his status as a serious title contender when he produced a perfect performance to extend his advantage in the 2026 FIM Flat Track World Championship at round two, last Saturday evening in Terenzano, Italy.
The British teenager was in dominant form at the Terenzano Speedway Arena and took maximum points from his four eight-lap Heat races before fighting to a hard-earned victory in the Grand Final, ahead of Spanish former champion Gerard Bailo (Zaeta) and defending champion Ervin Krajčovič (KTM) from the Czech Republic.
Under a clear sky and in dry conditions, Krajčovič got his evening off to a winning start ahead of the British pairing of Tim Neave (VRX Dirt Store Ducati) and Gary Birtwistle (Royal Enfield) and Bailo then led home Frenchman Sébastien Jeanpierre before Boughen opened his account with a clear-cut victory over Czech racer Ondrej Svedik.
Using wide lines to maintain his momentum, Boughen then recorded another comfortable win – this time ahead of Krajčovič – before home favourite Daniele Tonelli (TM) won from Finland’s Saku Purtilo (Honda) and Svedik defeated Neave.
Already out in front on his own following two blocks, once Bailo had beaten Krajčovič and on-form British rider Jack Bell (Triumph) it was time for Boughen to make it three in a row with a narrow victory ahead of Svedik before Neave claimed his first win of the evening chased by American former champion Sammy Halbert (Picasso Engineering).
With the top ten riders after the Heats progressing directly to the twelve-lap Grand Final and the next ten fighting it out in the Last Chance Heat to determine the final two places on the grid for the programme’s main event, there was a lot resting on the fourth block of racing.
Already safely through to the Grand Final, Krajčovič led home Ukraine’s Stanislav Ohorodnik before Boughen maintained his unbeaten record with victory over Bell, and Svedik won from Jeanpierre.
Halbert – the champion in 2024 – missed the opening round, but was back in action in Italy with a deal to help develop the Swiss-designed OMT 450 project bike, and after finding himself in the unfamiliar position of lining up in the Last Chance Heat, the thirty-eight-year-old powered his way into the Grand Final along with Argentina’s Santiago Arangio (Zaeta).
Bailo has started the season in impressive form and the 2022 champion led the Grand Final away from the line with Krajčovič on his shoulder and Boughen running his favoured outside line in third before Neave slipped underneath him to demote his team-mate.
On lap five, Krajčovič briefly wrestled the lead from Bailo, only for the Spaniard to grab it straight back, but Boughen was up to third again and looking menacing and three laps later he made a decisive move, diving down the inside of Bailo and the defending champion in one dramatic charge to take a lead he refused to relinquish.
Bailo – who won the bonus point for the fastest lap in the Grand Final – and Krajčovič continued their race-long battle and completed the podium with Bell and Neave rounding out the top five.
The 2026 FIM Flat Track World Championship now takes a four-week break before the action resumes at Teterow in Germany on 27 June when Boughen will start with a six-point lead over Bailo who, in turn, is already nine points clear of Krajčovič.

Daniel Sanders wins Desafío Ruta 40 to take W2RC lead
Daniel Sanders finally added Argentina’s Desafío Ruta 40 to his rally-raid CV, the Australian taking four stage wins from five to move into the lead of the 2026 FIM World Rally-Raid Championship.
Daniel “Chucky” Sanders arrived in Argentina with one clear gap on his current World Rally-Raid Championship record. The Desafío Ruta 40 YPF was the only event on the present W2RC calendar that he had not previously won.
Six days later, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider had fixed that. Sanders claimed overall victory in round three of the 2026 FIM World Rally-Raid Championship after a commanding week in San Juan, winning four of the five full stages and sealing the result with another stage win on the final day.
It was not a rally he led from the opening kilometre. A difficult prologue, where navigation errors left him seventh, could have made the week more complicated. Instead, Sanders responded immediately on stage one, charging through dust and passing six riders on the road to claim the stage win and move into the rally lead.
From there, the Australian kept turning the screw. He won stages one, two and three, helped Red Bull KTM Factory Racing to back-to-back one-two stage results, then managed the damage when stage four proved more awkward.
With a useful advantage in hand heading into the final day, Sanders could have gone conservative across the 340 km San Juan loop. Instead, he pushed for another win and took the final stage by 50 seconds over Ricky Brabec.
The result gave Sanders the overall win in 15h58m04s, 12m09s clear of Monster Energy Honda HRC’s Tosha Schareina, with Brabec third at 18m04s. Luciano Benavides finished fourth on home soil, 22m38s behind his KTM team-mate, while Skyler Howes and Adrien Van Beveren completed the top six for Honda.

It’s been a really good week for us. To come away with another win after Dakar and Portugal is a huge boost, and taking over the championship lead makes it even more rewarding. I felt comfortable on the bike all week and the team did an incredible job. Of course, I always like to look back and find areas where I can improve because there are always things to work on, but overall it’s been a strong performance and a great result heading into the break. We’ll keep working hard and come back ready to fight again in Morocco.

Lucas Coenen stretches MXGP lead as Cannon doubles up in Germany
Teutschenthal again delivered a proper old-school German Grand Prix test, with Saturday’s dry and sunny conditions giving way to a far more technical Sunday after overnight rain and further showers left the Talkessel circuit greasy, rutted and increasingly one-line in places.
Starts were crucial across the classes, but so was patience. The surface offered plenty of ways to lose time, very few safe ways to pass, and enough mud and traffic to turn even a strong start into a survival exercise.
Lucas Coenen made the MXGP class look straightforward, and after seven rounds Coenen leads the MXGP standings on 344 points, ahead of Herlings on 313 and Febvre on 263. Gajser remains fourth on 256, with Renaux now fifth on 251.

“A good weekend. Two holeshots and led every lap. I managed to pull a gap and control it. On that type of track you can easily made a mistake so I had to stay calm…but it was tricky! I had some pressure…but I think I did a good job. Sacha also, and it’s a nice thing to have two red plates [in the family] but it’s a long season.”
Mathis Valin timed his MX2 breakthrough to perfection, tying on points with Sacha Coenen, but taking the overall, with S.Coenen leaving the round with a narrow three-point lead in the MX2 standings over Längenfelder.

“Finally my first GP win! I have been waiting for this moment for several weeks but after my shoulder injury it took time. After two podiums in a row it’s such a good feeling to finally stand on the top step for both myself and the team! Today the track was really rough. On TV maybe people could not realise just how deep the ruts were; they were similar to Switzerland two months ago.I already had a good feeling in the first race and could chase Sascha all the way for second. In the second moto I started to put the pressure on him and he crashed. When I took the lead I knew that I had to ride very technical, and I was able to do just that! I made a few small mistakes but that was inevitable; it was the first time for a while that I have been leading a race on Sunday but I stayed calm and now I want to repeat as soon as possible! We worked hard with the team and of course we will continue to do so as the goal is to be on the podium every week. I’m feeling good with the bike, I’m consistent at the starts, and everyone in the team does a great job.”
Daniela Guillen strengthened her WMX red-plate grip, and Australia’s Courtney Duncan’s weekend was one of the more significant subplots. The four-time world champion is still rebuilding race sharpness after missing the entire 2025 season due to health issues, but her 3-10 scorecard was enough for fifth overall and moved her to third in the WMX standings. The second race could have been much better after a strong start, but two falls dropped her back before she charged to tenth.

“The first moto was already a huge improvement from last week. I made a mistake on the first lap yesterday and someone took my front wheel but I made a good comeback with quick passes so I was pretty stoked with third but there’s still plenty of room for improvement. We were first up this morning so of course they had watered the track pretty heavy and there weren’t so many lines but I got a really good start and felt good running in second until I made two silly mistakes. There are plenty of positives to take away from this weekend; I just need some more races under my butt to get my speed and race rhythm back. You’re never sure where you are after a long break; I need to get more loose on the bike again and of course I’m inevitably still lacking a little fitness. I’m not really looking at the championship but we’ll get there!”
Jake Cannon’s EMX250 title challenge gathered more weight in Germany, the Australian teenager taking his second consecutive overall victory with 4-2 finishes across the weekend.

I knew Fran would be going for it after yesterday; you can’t rush things in these conditions so patience was the key and I was happy to stay out of trouble in second for the overall. I’ve made a big step since last year and continue to grow. I’m so happy for both myself and the team; we’re putting on a clinic at the moment and my confidence is growing every week. All I need now is a race win to go with the overalls and the podiums. And it was really refreshing to hear the national anthem again.”

Hunter Lawrence perfect as 2026 AMA Pro Motocross fires into life
Australian Hunter Lawrence made the strongest possible start to the 2026 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Fox Raceway, topping qualifying and then sweeping both 450MX motos at Pala, California, while Seth Hammaker claimed a maiden 250MX overall victory for Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki.
The opening round of the 55th Pro Motocross Championship doubled as Round 18 of the Monster Energy SMX World Championship regular season, and it began with a distinctly Australian flavour at the front of the premier class.
Lawrence was quickest in 450 qualifying with a 2m16.832, then converted that pace into a 1-1 scorecard for Honda HRC Progressive. Jorge Prado made an impressive Pro Motocross debut with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing to finish second overall via a pair of runner-up finishes, while defending champion Jett Lawrence recovered from poor starts to complete the podium with 4-3 results.
In the 250MX ranks, Hammaker turned a 2-1 day into his first career Pro Motocross overall, edging out Caden Dudney and Cole Davies after a wild second moto reshuffled the podium contenders.
Hunter Lawrence had already set the tone before the first 450MX gate drop, leading qualifying ahead of Prado and Jett Lawrence.

“It was good—I’m really happy with where the bike’s at. Keeping the Lawrence streak of winning at Pala alive was special; I’ve seen Jett do plenty of those, so it was cool to finally get my first one, especially at round 1. We don’t usually love this track, but we always seem to do well here, which is pretty ironic. Having Jett on the podium too, after everything he had to come back from, was awesome. It was just a really happy day, and I’m stoked for the team. Results like this make all the hard work worth it for everyone involved. Every team in the paddock puts in so much effort and dedication, so it’s cool as racers to be able to share days like this with the people behind us.”

“I’m always going to be hard on myself because the goal is to win, but considering where my foot’s at and how long I’ve been away from riding and racing, it was a solid day. We had a lot of cobwebs to shake off and just needed to get back into race mode, work through a few little hiccups, and build from there. We definitely need to improve the starts because mine weren’t very good today. We’ll go back, regroup, and come into Hangtown hoping to make life a little easier with better starts. Physically, it’s still tough—every jump, I’m landing with most of my weight on my left side. Some of those rough, edgy bumps out of the turns were hard on my foot, but riding the bike is actually easier than walking right now. Today I learned what Pala roost really feels like; most of my previous races here, I’ve grabbed the holeshot, so I never really had to deal with it before—that was something I had to learn today too. But it felt really good to be back: feeling that adrenaline again, lining up on the gate, getting those butterflies before the drop—it was good.”
