Support classes confirmed for 2010 Aussie MotoGP
The 2010 IVECO Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix is set for excitement with the announcement of a first-class support line-up featuring some of the world’s most entertaining motorcycle racing categories.
On-track for 2010 are the incredible Australian Superbikes, the ever-popular 600cc Australian Supersport class and the always-exciting Australian Historic class, who will all return to the Island to showcase the best of our local talent.
Australian Grand Prix Corporation Chief Executive Officer, Drew Ward, said that customer feedback continues to indicate that this support program is immensely popular with patrons.
“The Aussie Superbikes and Supersports create a great stepping stone for young Australian riders to get into international classes such as MotoGP,” Mr Ward said.
“We are thrilled to have Aussie Superbikes and Supersports racing as part of the on-track line-up at the 2010 IVECO Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.”
The Superbikes will again race on all three days of the event including Sunday prior to the main race – giving our home-grown heroes the chance to race in front of more than 100,000 fans.
The Australian Historic class features some of the World’s most spectacular bikes from yesteryear including the high-handlebar, unfaired Superbikes of the 1970s and 80s.
“The Australian Historics are always a strong crowd pleaser. Together with the Superbikes and Supersports, they complete a fantastic line-up of events,” Mr Ward said.
Chief Executive Officer of Motorcycling Australia, David White said that the support program was a great way to showpiece the best of our domestic racing.
“The 2010 support schedule will be great for fans as well as the stars of tomorrow who will get the chance to share the international spotlight with the world’s premier Road Racing category,” he said.
