Honda Australia announces expanded 2026 Africa Twin line-up
Honda Australia has confirmed a four-model Africa Twin range for 2026, spanning the more off-road-focussed standard model through to the long-range Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES DCT.
Few names in the adventure motorcycle category carry quite as much history as Africa Twin.
The original XRV650 Africa Twin arrived in 1988 as a road-going reflection of Honda’s formidable NXR750 rally machine, which helped the company claim four consecutive Paris-Dakar victories between 1986 and 1989.
The larger XRV750 followed in 1990 and became one of the defining big-bore adventure motorcycles of the era. After a lengthy absence, Honda revived the Africa Twin name in 2016 with the parallel-twin CRF1000L, offered with either a conventional six-speed gearbox or Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission.
That platform evolved into the larger-capacity CRF1100L generation for 2020, bringing more performance and considerably greater electronic sophistication.
More recently, Honda repositioned the Adventure Sports as the more road-biased and touring-oriented member of the family, adopting a 19-inch front wheel in place of the previous 21-inch item.
For 2026, Honda has resisted making further major mechanical changes. Instead, the Australian Africa Twin range receives revised graphics and colour schemes inspired by the marque’s rally racing heritage.
The four-model local line-up comprises the Africa Twin, Africa Twin ES, Africa Twin ES DCT and Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES DCT.
The standard Africa Twin, Africa Twin ES DCT and Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES DCT are available now, while the manual-transmission Africa Twin ES is due to arrive shortly.
Four-model Honda Africa Twin range
All four models are powered by Honda’s 1084 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine and feature Throttle by Wire.
Four preset riding modes – Tour, Urban, Gravel and Off-Road – are joined by a configurable USER mode, allowing riders to tailor the electronic settings to suit their preferences.
Standard equipment across the range includes seven-level Honda Selectable Torque Control, selectable ABS, cruise control, an adjustable rally-style windscreen and tool-free seat-height adjustment.
A 6.5-inch touchscreen provides Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, while Honda says density-optimised seat foam has been developed to improve comfort over longer distances.
2026 Honda Africa Twin

The standard Africa Twin remains the most off-road-oriented and least expensive model in the range.
It combines a relatively slim and compact body with an 18.8-litre fuel tank, a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel.
Fully adjustable Showa suspension provides 230 mm of travel at the front and 220 mm at the rear, maintaining the standard model’s focus on rougher terrain and more serious off-road exploration.
For 2026, the standard model will be offered exclusively in Pearl Glare White with Honda’s familiar red, white and blue Tricolour treatment.
2026 Honda Africa Twin ES

The Africa Twin ES retains the conventional six-speed manual transmission but adds Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment suspension.
The EERA system offers Soft, Mid, Hard and Off-Road suspension settings, along with electronic rear spring preload adjustment.
Heated grips are also fitted as standard.
The Africa Twin ES will share the Pearl Glare White Tricolour finish of the base model and is expected to become available in Australia shortly.
2026 Honda Africa Twin ES DCT

The Africa Twin ES DCT combines the electronically controlled Showa suspension and touring equipment of the manual ES with Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission.
Riders can leave the transmission to change gears automatically or select ratios manually.
A dedicated G Switch modifies the clutch control strategy to reduce clutch slip during gear changes, providing a more direct connection between the throttle and rear wheel when riding over loose or uneven terrain.
The Africa Twin ES DCT will be offered in Grand Prix Red for 2026.
2026 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES DCT

The Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES DCT remains the long-distance flagship of the family.
Its 24.8-litre fuel tank provides considerably more touring range than the 18.8-litre tank used by the other models.
It also features a lower seat height, shorter suspension travel and a 19-inch front wheel designed to improve road manners, manoeuvrability and stability when covering longer distances.
Unlike the other Africa Twin variants, the Adventure Sports will be available in Australia only with DCT for 2026.
Its sole colour option is Iridium Grey Metallic.
Honda Africa Twin accessories
Honda Australia offers a range of genuine accessories for the Africa Twin, including LED fog lights, a 42-litre aluminium top box and matching aluminium panniers providing 33 and 37 litres of storage capacity.
The aluminium luggage options incorporate Honda’s One Key System, allowing the panniers and top box to be operated using the motorcycle’s ignition key.
The 42-litre top box can accommodate a full-face helmet and also incorporates a pillion backrest for greater passenger comfort on longer journeys.
Six-year Honda warranty
Every 2026 Africa Twin is covered by Honda Australia’s six-year warranty.
Honda Australia General Manager of Powersports and Products Chris Schultz described the 2026 Africa Twin range as offering considerable versatility and value.
