Wayne Maxwell smashes Wakefield Park lap record to take pole
Reigning Swann Australasian FX Superbike Champion Wayne Maxwell took pole position this afternoon at Wakefield Park and will start from pole position tomorrow alongside fellow Yamaha Racing Team rider Cru Halliday and local star Troy Herfoss, who had topped the morning sessions.
The two Yamaha riders were well under the existing lap record and the triumvirate were the only riders to sneak into the magic 57-second bracket around the 2.2km Wakefield Park layout.
Glenn Allerton rounds out the front row with a 58.078 ahead of Kurri Kurri’s Jamie Stauffer (Honda). Brisbane’s Mike Jones then heads the Kawasaki contingent with his 58.33 good enough to put him ahead of fellow Kawasaki riders Matt Walters, Sean Condon and Ben Burke.
Linden Magee rounds out the top in his return from injury ahead of William Davidson and Evan Byles.
A full Saturday schedule gets underway on Saturday from 10am with a 17-race programme, with that race same card then repeated on Sunday with another 17 races. Wakefield Park marks the fifth round of the seven-round 2015 Swann Australasian FX Superbike Championship.
