Jed Beaton seals MX1 title as Tanti takes Conondale honours

The 2026 Penrite ProMX Championship returned to Green Park for the first time since 2018, with Conondale delivering a fitting coronation for Jed Beaton and major developments across all four championship classes.

Beaton entered the penultimate round holding a commanding 64-point MX1 advantage after winning 11 of the opening 12 motos. The Monster Energy CDR Yamaha rider did not need to reproduce the domination seen at Traralgon; he simply needed two controlled finishes to complete a title campaign that had been a decade in the making.

Third place in both motos was more than enough. Beaton left Conondale 61 points clear of Aaron Tanti and Kyle Webster, securing his first Australian MX1 crown and adding it to the MX2 championship he won in 2016.

Tanti claimed the round victory with a pair of second-place finishes, while Nathan Crawford and Webster shared the moto wins. The result also left Tanti and Webster tied for second in the championship ahead of the season-ending two-day round at Queensland Moto Park.

Alex Larwood increased his MX2 lead after Kayd Kingsford was caught in an opening-lap incident in Moto Two, Seth Morrow completed a second successive MX3 clean sweep, and Lachlan Turner retained her perfect MXW record after recovering from a fall to win the final women’s moto.

The beautiful backdrop of the Green Park circuit, large crowd and generally fine conditions provided a welcome contrast to the cold, wind and rain experienced at Traralgon two weeks earlier.

Kawasaki MX1

Kyle Webster opened the day at the top of the regular MX1 qualifying order, his 2m04.538s lap edging Aaron Tanti by only 0.069 seconds.

Jed Beaton was third, 0.490 seconds from Webster, followed by Rhys Budd, Levi Rogers and Nathan Crawford. The depth of the leading group was underlined by the fact the top six were covered by only 0.780 seconds.

Local rider Rogers then produced one of the morning’s standout performances in Superpole. His 2m03.157s lap defeated Beaton by 0.144 seconds, with Crawford third ahead of Webster, Budd and Tanti.

Crawford claims first Honda MX1 victory

Ryan Alexanderson was credited with the opening-moto holeshot, but Crawford quickly moved to the front and established control of the race.

The new Honda Racing Australia recruit led the 13-lap contest while Tanti maintained the pressure behind him. The pair were remarkably closely matched on outright pace: Tanti’s 2m08.627s fastest lap was only three-thousandths of a second quicker than Crawford’s 2m08.630s benchmark.

Crawford nevertheless maintained the more important advantage on the track and took the chequered flag 4.611 seconds ahead of Tanti.

The victory was Crawford’s first MX1 moto win since joining Honda Racing Australia and continued the sharp improvement he had shown at Traralgon, where he finished second overall in his team debut.

Beaton rode a measured race in third. He remained within range of the leading pair for much of the moto before a slower tenth lap cost him ground, eventually finishing 12.067 seconds from Crawford.

Webster was fourth, 24.798 seconds behind his team-mate, while Alexanderson converted his strong start into fifth place.

Todd Waters finished sixth ahead of Rogers, Budd, Zac Watson and Luke Zielinski.

Webster snatches Moto Two from Tanti

Crawford made another excellent launch to claim the Moto Two holeshot, but this race developed into a four-rider contest between Crawford, Tanti, Webster and Beaton.

Tanti again demonstrated the fastest raw pace, setting a 2m10.649s lap on the third circulation. He worked his way to the front and appeared poised to take his first moto victory of the season.

Webster remained within striking distance, however, and a late mistake from Tanti presented the outgoing champion with the opportunity he needed.

Webster surged through and held on to win by just 0.862 seconds, with Beaton only another 2.044 seconds behind in third.

Crawford finished fourth, leaving the leading quartet covered by only 6.698 seconds after 13 laps.

There was then a substantial 33.952-second gap back to Alexanderson in fifth. Budd, Watson, Waters, Zielinski and Sam Pretscherer completed the top ten.

Tanti’s consistency earned him the round victory on 44 points. Webster and Crawford both scored 43, with Webster receiving second overall courtesy of his Moto Two win.

Beaton’s 3-3 scorecard placed him fourth overall and marked the first time he had missed the round podium in 2026. It mattered little.

The 31-year-old left Green Park on 335 points, 61 clear of both Webster and Tanti, with only the two Queensland Moto Park motos remaining.

Beaton’s championship is Yamaha’s fourth Australian MX1 title in six seasons, following Luke Clout in 2021, Tanti in 2022 and Dean Ferris in 2023.

Webster and Tanti are now tied on 274 points in the fight for championship runner-up. Crawford is firmly established in fourth on 232 points, 33 ahead of Waters.

“Firstly, congratulations to Jed on his championship win. He has been a great team-mate, and I can see the work and effort he puts in, so well done to him.

“My day was good and it’s awesome to be back winning rounds again. It’s been a long haul back and at times it seemed so far away, but I’m pumped to finally get back up the front.

“I’m a little disappointed I didn’t get the final moto win. I did all the hard work to get to the front and then couldn’t get it done at the end, but I have to look at the day positively.

“Now it’s down to the final round to secure second in the championship and make it a team one-two.”

Pirelli MX2

Dylan Walsh set the MX2 qualifying benchmark with a 2m05.048s lap, defeating Kayd Kingsford by 0.340 seconds.

Reid Taylor was third quickest ahead of Noah Ferguson, Ryder Kingsford and Haruki Yokoyama, while championship leader Alex Larwood qualified seventh, 2.548 seconds from Walsh.

Byron Dennis, Souya Nakajima and Cambell Williams completed the top ten.

Kayd Kingsford controls opening moto

Walsh emerged at the front during the opening lap, but Kayd Kingsford was only 0.242 seconds behind and quickly asserted himself.

The Honda Racing Australia rookie moved into the lead and maintained an impressively consistent pace throughout the 13-lap race.

Kingsford set the fastest lap on lap nine with a 2m07.710s, the quickest race lap recorded by any rider across the MX1 and MX2 motos at Conondale.

Larwood applied pressure from second but could not get close enough to challenge his team-mate, eventually finishing 5.121 seconds behind.

Walsh completed the podium, 16.764 seconds from Kingsford, while Dennis finished only 0.776 seconds behind his KTM team-mate in fourth.

Ryder Kingsford was fifth ahead of Ferguson, Jayce Cosford, Nakajima, Yokoyama and Williams.

Ferguson’s sixth place came after a fall while running inside the leading group. He remounted around the edge of the top 20 and recovered to finish only 1.333 seconds behind Ryder Kingsford.

Taylor was running competitive lap times before retiring after 11 laps.

Larwood capitalises as Kingsford is caught in the pack

Cosford led the opening lap of Moto Two, with Walsh and Taylor also making strong starts.

Kayd Kingsford’s championship challenge suffered an immediate setback when he became caught in a first-turn melee. He completed the opening lap well outside the leading group and faced a long recovery through the field.

Larwood avoided the drama and methodically worked his way towards the front

The championship leader moved into first during the middle stages and produced the fastest lap of the race—a 2m12.700s on lap seven—as he began to edge away.

Walsh remained close enough to keep Larwood honest, but the Honda rider controlled the closing stages to win by 3.770 seconds.

Taylor completed an excellent recovery from his opening-moto retirement to finish third, only 0.767 seconds behind Walsh.

Ryder Kingsford was fourth ahead of Cosford, Dennis, Yokoyama and Madoc Dixon.

Kayd Kingsford recovered to ninth, 48.154 seconds behind his team-mate. Nakajima completed the top ten, while Ferguson’s race was effectively ruined when he collided with another rider at the first turn and became trapped beneath his Yamaha.

Larwood’s 2-1 scorecard delivered 47 points and the round victory. Walsh was second overall with 3-2 finishes and 42 points, while Kayd Kingsford’s opening-moto victory gave him enough to salvage third overall on 37.

Ryder Kingsford and Dennis completed the round top five.

Larwood now carries a 26-point championship advantage into Queensland Moto Park, leading Kayd Kingsford 306 to 280.

The championship remains mathematically open, but the rookie must now produce a near-perfect finale while hoping Larwood encounters trouble.

The contest for third is completely level. Dennis and Walsh both have 249 points, with Ryder Kingsford fifth on 217 and Ferguson sixth on 202.

Larwood has now won ten of the 14 MX2 motos held this season, while each of his ten podium finishes has also been a victory.

“It was a good day in Conondale. It was a step closer – I was only a few seconds off the win there in that last one! So, we are making gains, myself and the team, and eventually we will get there. The track was good today and offered plenty of lines compared to the other rounds, which was nice, but yeah, overall I’m happy with my day and looking forward to QMP.”

Maxxis MX3

A huge MX3 entry required the field to be divided across qualifying groups before 40 riders progressed to the championship motos.

Seth Morrow was comfortably the fastest rider in his group, posting a 2m06.787s lap to finish 3.014 seconds ahead of Jackson Fuller.

Jobe Dunne, Mason Brown and Ryder Matthews-Taylor followed, while Heath Fisher was eighth in the group, 6.012 seconds from Morrow.

Morrow’s qualifying speed offered an early warning that his Traralgon breakthrough had been no one-off performance.

Morrow charges through for third straight moto win

Fisher led the early stages of Moto One, with Seth Thomas and Morrow immediately in contention behind him.

Morrow moved forward during the opening laps and produced a 2m10.188s fastest lap while closing on the leaders.

Once in front, the Honda-supported rider steadily stretched his advantage. He ultimately won by 14.362 seconds, continuing the form that had delivered his maiden round victory at Traralgon.

Fisher held second, but only just. Riley Burgess finished 0.511 seconds behind the Honda rider, with Thomas another 1.863 seconds back in fourth.

Fuller was fifth, while an unwell championship leader Hayden Draper limited the damage by finishing sixth.

Rafael Rossiter, Matthews-Taylor, Corey Eisel and Peter Wolfe completed the top ten.

Hayden Downie retired after seven laps, while Jack Deveson’s race ended after a heavy crash on the second lap.

Morrow completes second consecutive clean sweep

Downie took the Moto Two holeshot and led the field away, but Morrow again wasted little time moving to the front.

The Queenslander set the fastest lap on the second circulation and controlled the rest of the ten-lap race.

Morrow won by 9.970 seconds from Downie, with Draper digging deep to finish third despite feeling ill throughout the day.

Burgess was fourth, followed by Thomas and Fisher. Only 0.916 seconds separated Thomas and Fisher at the flag.

Brown finished seventh ahead of Rossiter, Fuller and Wolfe.

Morrow’s second consecutive 1-1 result gave him four straight moto victories and another maximum 50-point haul.

Burgess secured second overall with 3-4 finishes, while Fisher’s 2-6 scorecard earned third. Draper was fourth overall after going 6-3, with Thomas fifth.

Despite being visibly unwell, Draper surrendered only two points to Fisher and will take a 20-point championship lead into the final two motos.

Draper holds 270 points to Fisher’s 250, with Burgess third on 231.

Morrow’s late-season surge has lifted him to fourth on 223 points, ahead of Fuller on 216 and Downie on 206.

Yamaha reported after the event that Deveson was airlifted to hospital following his Moto One crash, with an early diagnosis indicating a ruptured spleen and kidney damage. The paddock now awaits further news on his recovery.

Hayden Draper – P4 (6-3)

“Just before race one, I started to feel pretty ordinary with low energy, headaches and just being sick.

“I did the best I could in the first one and then basically had something to eat and drink before sleeping between the motos.

“The second race was better, but I’m hammered now. I feel pretty run down, so I just need to take this week to rest and make sure I’m back to full health for next weekend.”

EziLift MXW

Lachlan Turner immediately established her authority during a chilly 7-degree qualifying session.

The American produced a 2m12.733s lap to finish 4.495 seconds ahead of Taylah McCutcheon, with Charli Cannon third and Madi Simpson fourth.

Turner was fastest in all three sectors, and her calculated ideal lap was identical to her actual qualifying time—an indication of how cleanly she had put the lap together.

Cannon continued to compete despite the fractured scapula she sustained at Traralgon.

Turner overcomes McCutcheon’s holeshot

McCutcheon launched to the opening-moto holeshot, with Turner slotting into second and Simpson initially third.

Turner remained behind the Kawasaki rider for the first two laps before taking over at the front on lap three.

Cannon moved into second on the following circulation, but Turner had already begun to establish a useful advantage.

The Yamaha rider controlled the remaining laps to win by 11.172 seconds from Cannon.

McCutcheon finished third, 25.706 seconds from Turner, with Darci Whalley fourth.

Simpson narrowly held fifth by 0.853 seconds over Emma Milesevic, while Mia Tongue, Leah Rimbas, Karaitiana Horne and Makayla Rimbas completed the top ten.

Turner falls, recovers and keeps perfect record alive

McCutcheon claimed a second holeshot in Moto Two, although Turner passed her during the opening lap and immediately began to pull clear.

The race changed on lap two when Turner misjudged a left-hand turn and fell. Cannon moved into the lead, while Turner remounted in fifth position, 7.725 seconds behind.

Turner’s response was emphatic.

She recovered to second by the end of the third lap and gradually reduced Cannon’s advantage from almost six seconds to 3.352, then to just 0.715 seconds.

Turner completed the pass on lap six and managed the final two circulations to win by 3.855 seconds.

Cannon again finished second, while McCutcheon completed another 3-3 day.

Simpson was fourth in Moto Two and fourth overall, with Milesevic fifth in the race and sixth overall.

Whalley’s 4-6 finishes gave her fifth for the round, followed by Milesevic, Tongue, Horne, Leah Rimbas and Makayla Rimbas.

Turner remains unbeaten through the opening six MXW motos of the season and has accumulated the maximum 150 points.

She carries a 34-point lead over McCutcheon into the final round, with Cannon another six points behind on 110.

Milesevic and Whalley are separated by only one point in fourth and fifth, while Simpson sits sixth on 86.

Lachlan Turner – P1 (1-1)

“I need to stop with those little crashes. I can’t keep doing them, but they seem to fire me up and get my riding better.

“This weekend was so good. I haven’t seen a crowd this big in Australian motocross, and so many people came up to say hello and were so supportive.

“The track was sick and so good to ride, and even when we did the podium there were so many people there.

“The team did a great job again, and I can’t thank them enough for making my family and me feel so welcome.”

Queensland Moto Park finale

The 2026 Australian ProMX Championship concludes with a two-day finale at Queensland Moto Park on August 1-2.

The MX1 championship is already secure in Jed Beaton’s hands, but Aaron Tanti and Kyle Webster will arrive tied on 274 points in their battle for second.

Alex Larwood carries a 26-point MX2 advantage over Kayd Kingsford, while Byron Dennis and Dylan Walsh are tied for third.

Hayden Draper leads Heath Fisher by 20 points in MX3, with Riley Burgess and the fast-finishing Seth Morrow also fighting over the remaining championship podium positions.

Lachlan Turner holds a 34-point MXW advantage over Taylah McCutcheon and remains unbeaten after six motos, while four-time defending champion Charli Cannon sits six points behind McCutcheon.

With one championship decided and three still open, the Queensland Moto Park weekend will determine the remaining 2026 ProMX title holders and final podium order.
