2026 AUSX Supercross Grand Final confirmed for Newcastle

The Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship presented by Monster Energy will stage its 2026 Grand Final at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle on Saturday, November 28.

The event will conclude a championship season spanning Australia and New Zealand, with AUSX and Australian Supercross titles to be decided in the Hunter Region.

AUSX CEO Adam Bailey said Newcastle had become an important venue for the championship.

“Newcastle has consistently delivered strong crowds and support for Supercross, making it a fitting location for our Grand Final,” Bailey said. “We’re grateful for the continued support of Destination NSW and the City of Newcastle, which has helped establish Newcastle as one of the key stops on the AUSX calendar.”

Fans can expect leading Australian and international riders, the Monster Energy Fan Fest, FMX demonstrations, rider signings, live entertainment and partner activations. Further rider announcements, event experiences and entertainment details will be confirmed in the coming months.

2026 MXGP of Australia takes shape

The MXGP of Australia presented by Sitzler will return to Darwin from September 18-20, with Hidden Valley Raceway again set to host the final, championship-deciding round of the FIM Motocross World Championship.

Friday will open with the all-Australian MX3 and MX85 State Challenge, with teams from across the country chasing national bragging rights.

Saturday morning will feature Australian support-class racing before MXGP, MX2 and WMX riders take over for practice, qualifying races and the opening WMX race.

Sunday will bring the championship deciders, with the second WMX race and two races each for MXGP and MX2.

Australian wildcard riders are again expected to add a strong local flavour across MXGP, MX2 and WMX, with those wildcard selections to be announced closer to the event.

Tickets are on sale now, with a 3-Day Hot Pass priced at $150, day passes starting from $45, and children 12 and under admitted free with a paying adult. A $30 Paddock Pass upgrade will also be available for fans chasing behind-the-scenes access.

Six Australian club teams set for 2026 ISDE

Six Australian club teams will take on the 100th edition of the FIM International Six Days Enduro in Grândola, Portugal, from October 12-17, with 18 riders entered across the club team ranks.

Long regarded as the “Olympics of Enduro”, the ISDE remains one of the toughest tests in off-road racing, demanding six days of speed, endurance, consistency and teamwork. Australia’s 2026 club contingent blends experienced ISDE campaigners with first-time international representatives, backed by a large support crew of family, management and helpers.

Dandenong Motorcycle Club will field three teams, headed by young guns Will Price, Jack Mentha and Dylan McDonald in DMCC 1, while DMCC 2 and DMCC 3 add further depth through riders including Scott Noble, Billy McCulloch, Ray Borg, Brent Brady and Alex Sword.

Oyster Bay Motorcycle Club, Dungog Motorcycle Club and the Trail & Enduro Club of WA will also be represented, with Dungog’s entry carrying a particularly notable family element through father-daughter pairing Ashley and Kaitlynn Sprenger, alongside six-time ISDE veteran Mick Todorovic.

The Australian club teams underline the depth of grassroots enduro racing across the country, with riders from the eastern states and WA set to fly the flag on the world stage.

Tarres impresses at Erzbergrodeo on Tenere 700

Pol Tarrés has again underlined what is possible on Yamaha’s Ténéré 700, taking the twin-cylinder adventure bike to Checkpoint 19 in the 2026 Red Bull Erzbergrodeo Hare Scramble.

The result saw Tarrés finish 77th from the 500 starters and set a new big-bike benchmark on the Iron Giant, where only 15 riders officially completed the full course inside the four-hour time limit.

Kevin Gallas also impressed on Ténéré 700 machinery, making the REMUS Rocket Ride final before supporting Tarrés during Sunday’s main race. Both riders are next due to contest the Adventure class at Red Bull Romaniacs from July 28.

Ducati Desmo450 enduro variant breaks cover

Ducati has taken its Desmo450 platform beyond motocross with the reveal of the Desmo450 EDS, the first modern enduro motorcycle from Borgo Panigale.

Developed from the Desmo450 MX but reworked for longer, tougher and more technical off-road use, the EDS runs a 449.6 cc liquid-cooled Desmodromic single, 21/18-inch wheels, Metzeler 6 Days Extreme tyres, enduro-specific Showa suspension, Brembo/Galfer brakes, LED lighting, an 8.5-litre transparent tank and a six-speed gearbox tailored for enduro.

Optional Ducati Performance race-kit electronics bring Ducati Traction Control, Riding Modes, Engine Brake Control and Power Launch into play.

Ducati Australia has confirmed a $18,125 ride-away price, with local arrival expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Sidecarcross & QuadCross calendar updated AGAIN

The FIM has revealed a change of venue for the FIM Sidecarcross and QuadCross World Championship event originally scheduled to take place on 12–13 September 2026 at Heerde, the Netherlands.

Italian Pro Prestige MX – Arco di Trento

The Italian Pro Prestige Motocross Championship continued at Pietramurata for round four last weekend, with the Arco di Trento venue again providing a strong domestic hit-out only two months after the MXGP paddock had visited Trentino.

Ivo Monticelli was the MX1 standout, taking his first Prestige overall victory in nine years after winning the opening moto and then managing second in race two behind Jan Pancar.

Alessandro Lupino kept Ducati firmly in the frame with 2-4 results on the Desmo450 MX, despite riding through an ankle injury, which was enough for second overall and valuable championship points. Pancar completed the MX1 podium and retained the series lead, albeit with his margin reduced.

In MX2, Maxime Grau broke through for his first Italian Prestige overall victory, ending Valerio Lata’s recent run at the front. Lata still salvaged second overall after a big race-two recovery, while Nicolò Alvisi completed the podium. Ducati’s Simone Mancini finished seventh overall after sixth in the opening race and ninth in race two, the latter compromised by a launch-control issue at the start.

The series now heads to Faenza for the Night Race on July 11.

TrialGP of Andorra Report

Spaniard Toni Bou (Montesa) stamped his authority on the opening day of the TrialGP of Andorra – marking round two of the 2026 FIM Trial World Championship – with a pair of commanding race performances in the premier TrialGP class.

Italy’s Andrea Sofia Rabino (Beta) took the overall in TrialGP Women after trading wins and second places with defending champion Berta Abellan (Scorpa) from Spain on a warm, bright day in Sant Julià de Lòria in the Pyrenees.

In Trial2 a lack of consistency among the front runners resulted in an extremely close-fought competition and race wins for Britain’s Billy Green (Scorpa) and Benoit Bincaz (Electric Motion) from France.

Italian Fabio Mazzola and Germany’s Marco Laure (Beta) each claimed a race victory as competition got under way in the Trial3 Junior class.

Toni Bou (Montesa) continued his mission to rewrite the record books on day two, when he parted with just one mark over both TrialGP races.

Andrea Sofia Rabino (Beta) claimed a career-best double victory in TrialGP Women, but the wins were once again split in Trial2 and Trial3 Junior where the front-runners continued to search for consistency across both races, leaving Benoit Bincaz and Harison Skelton in command.

Day One

Bidding for an incredible 20th consecutive title, 39-year-old Bou, unbeaten at last month’s opening round, hardly put a wheel wrong in the day’s first race, underlining his dominance with a miserly total of just five marks to win by 15 from his team-mate and compatriot Gabriel Marcelli with Matteo Grattarola (Beta) from Italy taking third on a tie-break from British rider Jack Peace (Sherco) after both finished on 25.

A further three marks adrift, Spain’s Jaime Busto (Beta) – second in the standings following the TrialGP of Japan – was fifth, just one clear of British class newcomer Harry Hemingway (Beta).

Starting positions for the five-section Final were then determined by Super Pole where Marcelli emerged on top from Busto and Grattarola after Bou slipped to seventh with an untidy three that forced him to start as third rider away.

However, this did not appear to bother the record-breaking champion who carded an amazing clean on the opening hazard, a performance matched only by Marcelli as the rest of the field took maximums on a steep climb over a series of imposing rocks.

Demonstrating his mastery of conditions in the Pyrenean principality he now calls home, Bou completed the Final unpenalised with his strongest opposition coming from Marcelli who finished on a total of seven that put him nine clear of Busto and eleven ahead of Spain’s Miquel Gelabert (Honda) as Hemingway became the only other rider not to incur a run of five maximums.

With the scores from the Final now carried across to the four-section Super Final contested by the full TrialGP entry, Bou made sure of his second victory of the day when he parted with just one mark on observation that gave him a total of three once two time penalties had been applied.

Marcelli added another two on observation plus two on time for a final total of eleven with Busto taking a distant third on 32. Gelabert, riding the sole electric machine in the class, was another two in arrears with Hemingway completing the top five on 35.

Day Two

Day Two was another dry and warm day at Sant Julià de Lòria, high in the Pyrenees, the sections still dry and grippy, with Spaniard Bou losing just one mark as he underlined his dominance to win the opening race by 15 marks. As was the case on day one, his closest challenger was Gabriel Marcelli (Montesa), alongside Britain’s Jack Peace (Sherco) who is in just his second season in the class, demonstrating his potential.

A solid sixth overall on Saturday, Spain’s Miquel Gelabert (Honda) brought his electric machine home in fourth a further two marks adrift with his compatriot Jaime Busto (Beta) never quite finding his flow on the rock-strewn, super-steep mountainside sections as he finished fifth on twenty-two.

Following a dramatic Super Pole section to determine starting order for the six-section Final that saw Bou third after Busto and Marcelli had tied for the win on an identical time, the world’s best riders were challenged by a technical, rocky climb to exit the opening section that drew maximums from everyone apart from Peace who manhandled his machine through for a three before Bou did the seemingly impossible with a gravity-defying clean.

Having thrown down the gauntlet to his rivals, Bou then recorded another five cleans to complete his domination of the Final before, with the scores carried across, he produced a string of four faultless rides to stay unpenalised through the Super Final to seal another win.

“It’s been a perfect weekend, even better than we could have expected. I had a great feeling on the bike, and today we were able to cap it off with a one-point lap and a clean one, without any mistakes. I’m very happy and I want to thank the team for their hard work, which has been very important for me. We’ve started the season in an incredible way.”

Behind Bou the battle for the remaining podium positions was fierce, Marcelli neck-and-neck with Grattarola after the Final before the 26-year-old Spaniard pulled six clear of the 38-year-old Italian in the Super Final to finish second on 17.

Gelabert took fourth on a tie-break from Peace – whose fifth place was good enough for a career-first overall podium – after the pair finished locked together on 30, seven ahead of French rider Hugo Dufrese (Beta) and 10 in front of a disappointed Busto.

With little time to regroup, the world’s best Trial riders now head to round three – the TrialGP of Italy – at Camerino this coming weekend (19-21 June) where along with TrialGP, TrialGP Women, Trial2 and Trial3 Junior classes, the Trial2 Women will join the action for the first time this year.

ProMX Appin: Beaton, Larwood, Fuller and Madafiglio take honours

The 2026 Penrite ProMX Championship presented by AMX Superstores moved into the second half of the season at Appin after four very different opening chapters. The Wonthaggi opener immediately put Jed Beaton in control of MX1; Canberra continued that Beaton/Kingsford theme; Gillman swung the headline momentum towards Honda; and Toowoomba sent the field to New South Wales, with Beaton again firmly in charge of the premier-class points race.

Appin then added another layer of pressure. The historic Macarthur Motorcycle Club venue, located south-west of Sydney, has long been a proving ground for Australian motocross talent, and its hard-pack clay base, off-camber turns, and limited margin for error were made even more demanding by rain, mud and a heavily chopped racing surface.

There were also major pre-race talking points before the gates dropped. Kyle Webster arrived under an injury cloud after his recent American Pro Motocross outing, while Factory Honda confirmed Wilson Todd would sit out Appin to prioritise his long-term health and wellbeing. Dean Ferris was also absent for the balance of the championship following his Toowoomba injuries, with Ryan Alexanderson stepping into the Empire Kawasaki line-up.

None of that changed the MX1 form guide at the front. Beaton was again the class of the field, topping qualifying, winning Superpole, then taking both motos to extend his championship lead with three rounds remaining.

Alex Larwood claimed Pirelli MX2 honours by the narrowest of margins after a crucial second-moto win, Jackson Fuller broke through for his first Maxxis MX3 round victory of the year, and Ryder Madafiglio took KTM Group MX65 Futures honours on countback after tying Hudson Francis on points.

Jett Lawrence perfect as Coenen twins light up Thunder Valley

Thunder Valley proved quite eventful with a rough and controversial track surface, multiple edge-marker penalties, a Japanese winner in 250MX, no American rider on the 450MX overall podium, and the Coenen twins making an immediate impression on their U.S. Pro Motocross debut.

The Colorado circuit itself became one of the major talking points of the weekend. Riders were far from glowing in their assessment of the surface, and the edge-marker issue became decisive in the 450MX opener. Track markers had been heavily disturbed as the motos wore on, but the rulebook was still applied: riders who crossed inside track markers were docked one position for each infringement.

Haiden Deegan was the hardest hit. After featuring in the lead battle, briefly pressing Jett Lawrence and eventually being fourth on the road in Moto 1, Deegan was docked seven positions and dropped to 11th.

Hunter Lawrence was penalised one position, moving from third to fourth, while Jorge Prado was penalised two positions and dropped from fifth to seventh.  The penalties resulted in Garrett Marchbanks being classified third despite finishing well behind the lead trio on elapsed time, but it also underlined how costly the track-limits issue became on a day when every point mattered.

“I’m super pumped with that red plate; it’s obviously good to have, even if it doesn’t mean anything at this point, really—it’s more important if you have it in the last round. They added mulch to the track, and I don’t think that’s a bad thing; it’s adding it too close to the race that’s not ideal. If they would’ve added it months prior, where the mulch could work into the soil and mix together, then I think it would hold moisture better. My first few laps, I had both wheels sliding because of the mulch and the water on top of it. In that first moto, I didn’t have the flow of the track at all, and because I was so disjointed and didn’t have much of a fire, I almost got more tired in the first moto than I did in the second one—we were just in defense mode in the first one. To be fair, my ankle felt really good this weekend. I still can’t ride normal, but I just have a little bit less pain. It was still pretty stiff to move side to side, but this week we had a lot more range of motion.”

Hunter Lawrence – P3

“It was kind of a crappy day in the office. I just kind of struggled a little bit with connectivity—feeling what traction I had with the front and the rear—so I hit the ground way too many times today. I feel like my riding and my pacing speed were good enough to win. The starts were good, even though they weren’t holeshots, which I think is a huge difference, especially when battling Jett. I was trying to take different lines to pass Jett, and on this track, you pretty much took the same line from the first corner all the way to the end of the motos. Anytime you tried to take a different line, you just lost time, and that’s exactly how Haiden [Deegan] ended up getting me in that first moto; I was just trying a different line to go around Jett, I lost time and he was on the inside. For the penalty, I’ve never intentionally gone off the track or tried to run over markers, so kind of a bummer. I got 4-4 today when it was really 3-4, but my crashes were the main problem.”

Pichon breaks through in Fafe as Garcia extends EnduroGP lead

The first of two consecutive EnduroGP weekends in Fafe delivered two different outright winners, a strengthened championship lead for Josep Garcia, and a breakthrough Sunday victory for Zach Pichon.

Garcia struck first for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing on Saturday, winning day one in hot, dry and dusty conditions, before TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Pichon turned the tables on Sunday to claim his first EnduroGP victory of the season.

Across the two days, Garcia was again the benchmark in Enduro1, keeping his perfect E1 scorecard intact for 2026, while Pichon doubled up in Enduro2.

Steve Holcombe’s weekend went from final-test heartbreak on Saturday to Enduro3 victory and an outright podium on Sunday, while Rachel Gutish completed a double in Women’s Enduro and Triumph Factory Racing celebrated its first EnduroGP World Championship victory courtesy of Leo Joyon in Junior.
