2003 Shell Advance Australian Superbike Championship Round 4 - Queensland Raceway - 250 GP / 250 Production - Race 1 August 9th, 2003 |
|
| Problems on the start line when the lights did not work correctly which meant the front row got swamped from behind, the race continued nevertheless but the front row
had to fight their way back past the riders that passed them while they were sat on the line. Instead of the red light just going out, the red light went out followed by a flashing orange
which confused many riders. There were some very unhappy riders after the race who thought the race should have been red flagged following the start line cock-up. Peter Taplin took the win after fighting his way back through the field after the confused start and is now a little closer to lifting the 250 Grand Prix Championship. The only thing that can stop him from here is a disaster with injury and should he win the championship this year he will be the first Western Australian to win a national road race championship since Alan Watts won the same class in 1996. |
